COPPERS FOR KARMA

The amazing COPPERS FOR KARMA return as headline this week ..and what a great  BAND.... top 5 ever to play Cafe Rocks a must see..
A hot mouthful of upbeat driving funk-a-billy   HELL YEAH!

   About Their Strange Gathering
The four members of Their Strange Gathering converged in the summer of 2007 through a mutual admiration for bands such as Idlewild, Death Cab for Cutie and Mogwai. Sure-footed in a live environment, the band confidently interlace sincere, melodic and arresting songs with reflective instrumentals. The band are currently based in South East London, where they write and rehearse.

THINSKIN

THINSKIN – aka Simon Harvey – is a man on a mission to blend dance, electro and rock into an exciting mix. THINSKIN surfaced in late 2006, having been spotted by Eddy Temple-Morris of London based Radio XFM. After a smattering of support slots around London he got the opportunity to play at the Melt! electronica festival in Germany, securing favorable press from the Drowned In Sound online music magazine. Since then Simon has been focused on developing his sound further and is now ready to hit the live circuit once more. With a diverse range of influences from such luminaries as Unkle, Chemical Brothers, Ils, Massive Attack, Queen, The Prodigy, Evil 9, Jean Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, Fluke, Adam Freeland, Eddy Temple-Morris (The Remix), Tears for Fears, Dire Straights, Orbital, Future Sound of London, Stephen Sondheim, LCD Sound System, Future Sound Of London and Coldplay, the THINSKIN sound is a unique experience that lifts the soul and compels you to dance.

BRITISH INTELLIEGENCE

From London and Essex in the UK, comes Hip-Rock band British Intelligence. Long-time buddies Steve Lavers and Jay Aldridge joined forces in the studio around 2003 and completed an early demo album along the way. Their pioneering new sound became trailblazing in its diversity. Producer/guitarist Steve Lavers knowledge of break beats and rock influences and Jay Aldridge's MC background and shared love of hip hop/dance music, created a truly unique and potent new mix.

After the first initial demo's it seemed obvious to both, the only way to move the project forward was as a band. The move from studio-act to live band was inevitable but held it's own challenges as who could play such an eclectic mix of styles and performance. This marked a significant progression and would ultimately thrust the sound to an even greater height.

THE NOUGHTS AND CROSSES BAND

"Three girls and three boys from London, The Noughts & Crosses Band create a sugarsweet whirl of perfect pop with melodicas, recorders, brass, ukulele, marching drums, and vocal harmonies. They're also the latest pop creation to be unleashed upon the world by manager/svengali Monster Bobby (of The Pipettes), which should give you a good idea of their swoonsome brilliance." - Ian Watson, HDIF

"Recorder-toting tweemo supertroupe" – The Guardian

"The Noughts & Crosses Band’s first and last songs are reminiscent of Talulah Gosh! with sweet girlish harmonies, plenty of ba ba bas and tumbledown, runaway melodies. In between they go folky dolky with recorders, ukulele, a drummer girl and g-a-s-p MELODICA DUETTING! Truly, the instrument of indie is being utilised in mysterious new ways. Fashion news: the three Noughts and Crosses girls (there are boys too) wear skinny braces to hold up their breeks, but weirdly they’ve got them clipped onto their pockets rather than their waistbands. Is this the hip new way to wear braces? Those crazy kids!" - Kitten Painting (Review of HDIF Show)
